Course Description:

The goal of the rehabilitation process for infants, children and adolescents is to function at their maximum potential and become contributing members of their families and society, regardless of their disability or chronic illness. This year’s pediatric rehabilitation conference brings together experts in the field to discuss key topics including diagnosing cerebral palsy (CP) and the phenomenology of movements in cerebral palsy. Other key topics include management of the ambulatory patient with spasticity, pediatric and adolescent dysphagia management and using recreation therapy for fitness and well-being for patients with cerebral palsy. Additionally, functional neurologic disorders (FND) and strategies for managing chronic pain in the pediatric population will be presented.

Burnout: Recognition and Recovery

Course Description:

.Burnout is a state of emotional and physical exhaustion. It can occur when you have worked in a physically or emotionally draining role for an extended period of time or when you experience long-term stress in your job. The negative effects of burnout spill over into every area of life including your work, home, and social life. This presentation will provide valuable information on how to identify the components and dimensions of burnout along with the associated risk factors and symptoms. Additionally, how to prevent and effectively respond to burnout will be discussed.

Implicit Bias Training: Mind Your Bias

Course Description:

Explicit bias is traditionally what we think about regarding bias. With explicit bias, individuals are aware of their prejudices and attitudes towards certain groups. Alternatively, implicit bias refers to the attitudes and stereotypes that affect our understanding, actions and decisions in an unconscious manner. This presentation will identify common biases and differentiate between implicit bias and racism. Additionally, this presentation will discuss ways implicit bias impacts behavior and also explore ways to address bias.
