Course Description:
Social work is the helping profession. And as a profession, social workers are a privileged group – being predominantly white and holding higher educational degrees. The social work system holds a significant amount of power and control over individual’s lives and unexamined privilege can present as a barrier to the pursuit of social justice and equity. This session explores the systems of power and privilege embedded in the social work system and identifies how social workers can push against the systems in which they benefit.
