1.This training will explore Motivational Interviewing (MI) from a beginner and intermediate perspective. The key concepts of Motivational Interviewing will be introduced along with barriers to patient engagement and behavior change. The presenter will discuss how MI can be applied to the older adult population.
2.Parkinson’s Disease (PD) is the second most common neurodegenerative disease. Many individuals are misdiagnosed, late diagnosed, or are not receiving appropriate treatment. Symptoms are expressed differently across individuals, making it more difficult for providers and family to understand the disease and how to help. With the combined experience of a PD trained clinician and an individual living with PD, this session will provide important information for recognizing and supporting individuals with PD in practical ways and in different settings.
3.Sensory impairment, combined with aging and/or cognitive deficits, can create a perfect storm of miscommunication and may impact quality of life, as well as assessment and management of pain. This session will examine sensory and behavior changes which occur with dementia. We will explore how to provide effective assessment and how to improve communication with individuals who are born with, or are aging with, cognitive deficits. (Qualifies for one pain CE).

The purpose of Rethinking Addiction: Trauma Responsive is to bring together like-minded professionals to be educated on the most effective, impactful strategies and initiatives related to the public health crisis of co-ocurring substance use disorder treatment.
Together we're currently engaged in creating stronger, deeper connections between non-profits, service providers, and those in recovery. We're also assisting to build connections with local coalitions that support the work being done in the substance use disorder field. We are collaborating to create region-wide initiatives that will better educate the community on how we can actively make our communities truly trauma responsive.
Our conference is focused on providing trauma informed care and trauma responsive treatment for individuals that provide substance use disorder interventions and mental health symptom interventions. Our strategies are aimed at family supports, peer supports, clinicians, therapists, court staff, and medical professionals. We are committed to creating resources and infrastructure that provide safe interactions for those in our community who need a place to turn during recovery and beyond.
